“Ha yeah.” He giggled to himself. “Just rest up and I’ll be back before you know it.”

“Alright, just.. be careful, okay?” she stated. Even though it wasn’t her body, Serenity still worried about people. Not to say that Nova didn’t, of course…

“Me? Careful? You must have me confused with someone else.” He joked. If anyone was going to be careful, it was him. No need to get himself noticed right now. 

He stood up, giving her a tiny wave as he turned to go.

“It’s totally understandable.” He reassured. “…hey, I’m gonna go for a walk, but I’ll be back later, okay?”

“Nova” nodded, shifting in her seat some. “Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll… still be here I guess,” she joked.

He met her smile with on of his own. “I… yeah…” seems he’d run out of words again. “I’m… glad we could be honest about it, eheh…” So Chaos was right about this, big deal. He’d just have to deal with her lighthearted teasing later.

She nodded. “Yeah.. I’m sorry I was kinda vague about the whole thing… I just didn’t know how you’d react.”

“Nova” leaned into the hug, but not too much. She didn’t want to seem like she was needy… and she understood his hesitancy. If he was as new at this as Nova, then Serenity didn’t want to push anything.

“Thanks for understanding, Gray,” she stated, the smile still on her face - though it would always look like a snarl. But he didn’t seem to mind. “I really appreciate.”

“Then… then yes. Let’s try it. Why not?” What was the worst that could happen? Besides them possibly hating each other later. Yeah that would suck, but he tried not to think about it. People didn’t always end up that way after all.

Serenity was seriously fangirling at this point, and it started to show as the blush started getting more prominent.

“I’d get up and hug you, but…” She had sunken into the couch quite a deal and had to push to get herself out enough to where she was actually sitting instead of being eaten by the cushion.

He laughed a little. “You don’t have to move.” Especially not with how hurt you are. 

He inched over to give her a tiny hug, careful to avoid touching her arm. It was like a lot of the ones they’d had before, he tried not to draw it out just yet. They were still new at this whole thing…

“Um… yeah. I mean I like you well enough and-and…” and? And what? He wasn’t too sure where he was going either.

“Just… promise me if this doesn’t go the way we think, that we can still try to be friends? I realize neither of us really knows how this works and I-I’d hate to ruin what we have…”

She pulled her mask back up, a blush starting to form on her face. It was a legitimate blush - Serenity supposed it was Nova’s personality really showing up.

She blinked after realizing that he had asked her something. “O-Oh… of course! Yeah!” She nodded. “Yeah, I’d hate to ruin that too…”

Because then Nova would really kill her.
